VERY RARE COLLECTORS ITEM….gently used Howes CTU8 Receive Antenna Tuner in VERY GOOD condition…and 100% FULLY FUNCTIONAL. I have THOROUGHLY TESTED this unit. I have also opened the cabinet to TRIPLE CHECK all solder joints and component mounting hardware for tightness. This unit is ready to use and enjoy for many years to come. Great addition to any shortwave listener’s shack. Covers the entire HF spectrum, from 500KHz (0.5MHz) to 30MHz. This is a RECEIVE ONLY ANTENNA TUNER. Please DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRANSMIT any RF power through this unit, or it will be permanently damaged! You MIGHT get away with QRP power levels of 5 watts or less, but I personally would not risk damaging it….unless you KNOW that you have the correct pair of replacement variable capacitors in stock. Has dual UHF/SO-239 antenna jacks on the rear panel, just like any CB radio (27MHz band) or ham radio that operates within the HF spectrum (0.5 to 30MHz). I also have MANY RF connectors, adapters and cables in stock and I can EASILY make you just about any custom adapter for your particular indoor OR outdoor antenna situation. Indoor thin wire antennas can be made to work very well and be nearly invisible, depending upon wire color. The main exceptions would be buildings with walls that are constructed of all-metal or very thick concrete. In those cases, you usually must use an outdoor or attic wire antenna. Attic antennas also work extremely well in buildings with a common wood/shingle constructed roof. Operation is very simple and NO MANUAL IS INCLUDED OR EVEN NEEDED. Just set the CENTER rotary inductor switch and tuning capacitors (LEFT and RIGHT) all according to the guide sheet (tuning chart) on the top panel. Now you just slowly adjust/rotate the left and right knobs (tuning capacitors) alternately until you have achieved the PEAK RECEIVE SIGNAL. The peak receive signal has been achieved when the listening volume reaches the loudest point. IF your receiver has an RF signal meter, the signal strength will also be indicating at the highest possible signal level as shown on the meter scale. This will help to null out interfering signals and also make the desired broadcast signal as strong as possible. Thanks for viewing my listing. Have a great day and be safe….Scott
