Unknown artistpublished by Jeremias Wolff c1700 A full set of 12 prints, one for each of the months. First plate with attribution to Wolff as publisher, and with publisher’s number (107) referring to the set’s place in the publisher’s collection. Trimmed to, or within, platemark and laid to antique laid paper. Each in excellent condition, with dark and crisp lines. Name of month at top and ornamental border around a central scene, showing characteristic activities associated with each. I think that the Metropolitan Museum of Art has another copy of this set, but does not have digital images available so I am unsure. (Harris Brisbane Dick Fund, 1928. Accession Number: 28.44.48-.59) I’ve not been able to locate other copies. Jeremias Wolff (1686-1724) was the leading print publisher in Augsburg in the early 18th century. Originally a clock and automat maker, he later turned into print publisher though he was never an engraver himself.
