A 2″ tall x 1 3/4″ round embossed antique POST INK well. This is an early CORK TOP bottle, dating close to 100 years old. It is in ALL-ORIGINAL condition, full LABEL, in BOX, base EMBOSSED, comes still corked. Base of bottle embossed: «POST». Shoulder of bottle is embossed also, «3/4 OZ.» Label reads in part: «POST’S SEPIA PRIMO ERASING FLUID … POISON … primarily designed for making corrections and additions to Sepia Prints … POST’S Standard American Drawing Ink FREDERICK POST CO. CHICAGO / SAN FRANCISCO — PORTLAND». Condition: Glass ink well is in EXCELLENT condition. It is still corked and has content residue, but NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Label is okay, box is rough, has missing/torn flaps AND it is badly worn, tattered, and stained; PLEASE see picture of overall appearance of bottle. Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE blown glass bottle (ABM) with a cork-top, ca. early 1900’s. Shipping: FREE domestic shipping, includes insurance. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time. A very nice example in this ALL — ORIGINAL condition, of an early Standard American Drawing Ink type bottle. According to the information that accompanies this bottle, the original contents of this bottle was a «Primo Sepia Erasing Fluid», primarily designed for making corrections and additions to Sepia Prints. It was to be used just like ink, by dipping the pen into the bottle and using the same as ink. The fluid removed the surface coating of the print, leaving the addition or corrections standing in white. And as a side note and by seen quite clearly by the LARGE print on the bottle’s label, this product was POISON and would also fit into that category of collecting as the large word POISON printed on the label would stand WAY OUT in a grouping of poison bottles.
