The «advanced» Galaxy-X style Enterprise-D seen in the series finale was a very interesting — and very controversial! — take on what the Enterprise might have evolved into had it stuck around for a couple more decades. It was immediately visually different, with the third nacelle towering over the secondary hull, and the ship literally bristled with additional weapons placements. The huge «borg-buster» phaser cannon certainly hinted at some kind of conflict with the Borg in that alternate timeline, and the offhand comment about going to Warp 13 immediately redrew the warp scale chart for all of us watching. Love it or hate it, the Galaxy-X was a turning point in Star Trek canon as the first official dreadnought style ship seen flying around on screen. And now…..you can add one to your 1/2500 scale fleet! This is a highly detailed 8-piece 3d printed resin model that comes with decals to make your choice of one of 3 different ships — the Enterprise, the Challenger, or the Victory. The ship is just over 10 inches in length at 1/2500 scale, and is printed hollow to save weight. While the model DOES show detail in the saucer-separation mode, it’s meant to either be glued together or displayed as the two individual parts (you can’t separate the saucer and then expect it to stay together). I’ve printed the nacelles in translucent blue and red resins to help aid in painting these areas. Model is unpainted and unassembled. *A note about 3d printed resin models: All 3d models will have small «bumps» from the printing support structure that you will need to sand off; this is best achieved with simple padded nail sanding files or modeler’s sanding sticks. The 3d printed resin models I sell are washed in 99% IPA and cured under UV light before shipping, but you may want to allow them to sit in the sun or under a UV source for 5 minutes or so for final post curing if you feel there is any tackiness to the resin surface (there shouldn’t be). All resin models, regardless of design, should be washed with a mild abrasive such as Comet or Barkeepers friend before priming and painting.*
